Delivery schedule

Your delivery moment, your timezone, and what happens when there is nothing new

The digest arrives once a week, at the day and time you choose, in the app and by email. How the digest itself is assembled is on Digest and delivery.

Set your delivery moment

  1. Open Settings and find Digest schedule.
  2. Pick a weekday and a time.
  3. Save.

The default from Owl training is Monday at 08:00. Delivery is weekly; a daily digest is not available.

Timezone

Your timezone was detected from your device during Owl training and is stored with your account, so the digest lands at the hour you chose wherever the servers are. Every time in the app is shown in that zone.

When the digest actually arrives

The scheduler checks for due digests every few minutes. Your digest is generated on the first check after your moment, never before it, so it can land a few minutes late. If a check is delayed, a due digest is still picked up for up to six hours afterwards; a digest is never skipped because of a late check.

Generation itself takes a minute or two: the sources are fetched once more, new items are summarised, and the digest is written. The email follows right after.

When there is nothing new

If none of your sources published anything since the last digest, a quiet-week digest is recorded (A quiet week — nothing made the cut this time.) and no email is sent. Nothing is wrong; the next digest comes at the usual time.

Run a digest now

The Digests page has a Run digest now button for when you do not want to wait. It never replaces the scheduled digest: the moment you set is always kept. There are limits: one manual digest per day during the trial, three on the paid plan, with five minutes between runs:

  • A digest was generated moments ago. Give it 5 minutes before running another.
  • You've used all 3 manual digests for today. The scheduled digest will arrive as planned, or try again tomorrow.
